Prayer Points for December 2025
Pause to (re-) focus on Jesus - For each of us in the midst of so much year-end busyness, don’t forget to pause, and turn our eyes to Jesus. Like Mary and Martha in the gospel of Luke, there will be many things we need to attend to; but even more important is to spend time with our Lord. The gift of Jesus is not only a sign of the season, He is the reason for Christmas at all. And we need Him, need to be with Him.
Softening of hearts to the Gospel - Pray for our communities in general to be softened to the true significance of Christmas; may the Holy Spirit use all the ‘signs of the season’ around us to speak to people’s hearts. But also, ask the Lord for just one or two people you can be particularly praying for this month; that they would be open to your invitation to Christmas, and even opportunities for you to share Jesus with them. Pray for all our CityLife Christmas Presentations and Services across all sites, and for our teams as they prepare.
Rest and refreshing for all our Teams - Having recently marked Teams Appreciation weekend, let’s continue to remember and be praying for all our volunteers and teams over the summer as many of them take break. Ask the Lord to refresh and renew each one physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as they get some much needed and well-deserved rest. We’re looking forward to an amazing 2026; may the Lord recharge us all for what’s ahead.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and PRAY and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will HEAL their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14
“Devote Yourselves to Prayer With an Alert Mind and a Thankful Heart.” Colossians 4:2 (NLT)
Prayer is a powerful tool God gives us to grow our relationship with him and support others. There are many ways we can engage in prayer:
Personal Prayer – All of us long to connect with someone who can identify with our circumstances and share in our day-to-day life. Prayer is just that – a personal experience and intimate connection with our loving Heavenly Father. We would encourage you to establish a regular time that you set aside to talk with God. “The fervent prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.” James 5:16 (NLT)
Prayer Support for Ministries – There are various opportunities for you to get involved in prayer in your Life Group. You can also prayer for needs in our missions work (World Impact), youth and other ministries of CityLife Church. Please refer to the individual ministry pages on our website.
Prayer Requests – God asks us to pray for each other. If you’d like us to partner with you in a prayer request, simply email prayer@citylife.church. Be assured that someone will join with you in bringing your request before God. Please also remember to tell us when your prayer has been answered so we can celebrate God’s provision by sending in your story.
Intercessors – Intercessory prayer is the act of praying on behalf of others. If you’d like to find out more about this vital ministry of our church please email us or call 9871 8300.
