Prayer Points for December 2025

Pause to (re-) focus on Jesus - For each of us in the midst of so much year-end busyness, don’t forget to pause, and turn our eyes to Jesus. Like Mary and Martha in the gospel of Luke, there will be many things we need to attend to; but even more important is to spend time with our Lord. The gift of Jesus is not only a sign of the season, He is the reason for Christmas at all. And we need Him, need to be with Him.

Softening of hearts to the Gospel - Pray for our communities in general to be softened to the true significance of Christmas; may the Holy Spirit use all the ‘signs of the season’ around us to speak to people’s hearts. But also, ask the Lord for just one or two people you can be particularly praying for this month; that they would be open to your invitation to Christmas, and even opportunities for you to share Jesus with them. Pray for all our CityLife Christmas Presentations and Services across all sites, and for our teams as they prepare.

Rest and refreshing for all our Teams - Having recently marked Teams Appreciation weekend, let’s continue to remember and be praying for all our volunteers and teams over the summer as many of them take break. Ask the Lord to refresh and renew each one physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as they get some much needed and well-deserved rest. We’re looking forward to an amazing 2026; may the Lord recharge us all for what’s ahead.

Getting Ready to Fast

These are some great reflections around why prayer and fasting is so profound and powerful. By nature, every one of us is inclined to take the path of least resistance. We want to avoid pain at all costs. We love shortcuts. We tend to avoid disciplines, however God says when we do fast and pray he will reward us.

  • Decide what you are going to fast from. Food, technology, entertainment or something else.
  • Block out a specific time that you will abstain from it so you can pray and seek God.
  • Be consistent. Stay with it. Stick to it.
  • Set a specific period of time.
  • Set a specific objective. What will you like to focus on in prayer during that time.
  • Prepare yourself spiritually. Take time to read the word. Worship. Journal.
